Supporting Men’s Health Week: Closing the Empathy Gap

June marks Men’s Health Month, and this week—June 9–15, 2025—we recognize Men’s Health Week, a time to shine a light on the unique health challenges men face and encourage action toward better health outcomes.
This year’s theme, “Closing the Lifespan Gender Gap & Addressing the Empathy Gap,” highlights a critical reality: men, on average, die six years earlier than women—often from preventable causes. At Bend Surgery Center, we see firsthand how timely, proactive care can change that story.
Why Men’s Health Matters
Men’s health issues like prostate cancer, testicular cancer, chronic pain, heart disease, and colorectal cancer often go unaddressed until symptoms become severe. Men are also less likely to seek preventive care or talk openly about mental and emotional health—which is why this year’s focus on empathy is so important.
Improving men’s health doesn’t just benefit individuals—it strengthens families, workplaces, and communities.
How We Support Men’s Health at Bend Surgery Center
At Bend Surgery Center, we provide a range of outpatient procedures and services that directly support men’s physical well-being, including:

- Pain Management – Helping patients live more comfortably through advanced pain relief procedures.
- Colonoscopy – Essential screenings to prevent and detect colorectal cancer early.
- Sports Medicine & Orthopedic Surgery – Helping men of all ages recover from injury and stay active.
We’re also committed to fostering a culture of empathy and proactive care, encouraging men to take ownership of their health and well-being at every stage of life.
