Finding Strength in Every Story: Mental Health Awareness Month at Bend Surgery Center

Each May, Mental Health Awareness Month reminds us of the importance of supporting mental well-being and eliminating the stigma that still surrounds mental health conditions. At Bend Surgery Center (BSC), we are proud to champion awareness, empathy, and access to care with the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI).
This year’s NAMI campaign theme, “In Every Story, There’s Strength,” speaks directly to the resilience found in the personal journeys that shape mental health. Every story matters—and every story has the power to inspire connection, understanding, and hope.
Sharing Stories, Building Hope
This May, NAMI in encouraging staff and community to embrace the power of storytelling. Your journey—no matter where you are on it—has value. When we speak openly about mental health, we not only reduce stigma but also offer strength and encouragement to others navigating similar paths.
Want to participate? You can:
- Share Your Story: Submit a quote, video, or message—or use the hashtag #MyMentalHealth on social media to contribute to the national conversation.
- Learn and Listen: Take time to better understand mental health challenges and how they impact those around us.
- Support and Advocate: Whether it's joining a community event, checking in on a coworker, or simply showing empathy, small actions can make a big difference.

Why It Matters
One in five adults experiences a mental illness each year—yet too many still go without support or care. At BSC, we believe that by fostering a culture of compassion and awareness, we can help change that. Together, we can create a workplace where mental health is prioritized, stories are honored, and strength is found in every voice.
This May, let’s continue building a community where healing, hope, and humanity thrive.
